With Americans living longer, health care has become a more important issue than ever. But in the coming years, our nation faces a looming shortage of health care workers, as many medical professions do not have enough workers to replace retiring Baby Boomers.
The Higher Education Allied Health Leaders (HEAL) Coalition was founded to prevent this looming crisis, by raising awareness about the importance of allied health training and advocating the interests of private allied health schools. Members include eligible accredited institutions of higher education, along with companies, organizations, and associations interested in allied health issues.
The Coalition works to educate Members of Congress on the value of private allied health schools, and to advocate parity between the proprietary and traditional sectors when promoting the allied health professions. We invite you to learn more about allied health professions, find out more about ways in which policy-makers can promote these essential jobs, and take action to help make a difference.

As a result of timely action by the HEAL Coalition, allied health students may become eligible for tens of thousands of dollars of student loan forgiveness. Provisions in the Higher Education Act recently approved by the House Education and Labor Committee would, if enacted into law, ensure that all allied health professionals will be eligible for federal loan forgiveness.
